Clay’s quarter-end is this week. Reflecting on my quarter and looking ahead, a quote I’ve been pondering is this one by Abraham Lincoln.

“Give me 6 hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first 4 sharpening the axe.”

To double pipeline, double the number of deals closed or double the average deal size, there’s little room to increase hours spent in the day. The only way to hit those goals is to sharpen the axe, improve productivity and overall effectiveness.

The four areas of leverage to do more with less today are:

  • Brand - Improve visibility on social. mix in posts and video. establish trust, leverage in-person events and customer visits. Trust compounds.

  • AI - Automate manual work, speed up processes, treat every prospect like they’re the only prospect.

  • Data - Better data to prioritize time, accounts and contacts to maximize surface area in the right places.

  • Skill - Improve communication, negotiation and strategy to improve win rates and deal sizes.

Reply and let me know what are you doing to sharpen the axe.

GTM with AI’s Newsletter Playbook

Hi, I’m Joey, founder of GTM with AI.

I started this newsletter in May 2024. Since then, 75,000+ people have signed up.

The reason I started it was simple: distribution.

A newsletter is one of the best ways to create consistent top-of-funnel attention around the ideas, problems, and tools you care about. Every issue becomes another entry point for new people to discover your thinking. Over time, that audience compounds.

Instead of chasing leads, opportunities start coming to you.

Since launching, the newsletter has led to partnerships, consulting opportunities, product ideas, and sponsorships — all from people who found the content first. The newsletter acts as a distribution engine for everything else you want to build.

Along the way, I’ve helped five other founders start their own newsletters and grow them to 5k, 10k, even 30k subscribers. One of them sold their newsletter just six months after launching.

For the first time, I’m sharing the exact playbook behind those results.

You don’t need a marketing background. You just need a niche you care about enough to write about consistently and a system for growing distribution.

The Newsletter GrowthBook shows you how to go from idea to your first audience. It walks through the systems that drive subscriber growth and the monetization paths that turn attention into your first sponsorship.

And here’s the fun part: if you use my affiliate link for six months and follow the playbook, I’ll refund your entire purchase.

Execute the plan and it’s free.
